He loves pink

Much to his father's chagrin, pink is his favorite color. He chooses a pink color tablet for his bath EVERY night. Even though we're out of pink, he still requests it first before settling on yellow or blue. He was ECSTATIC when he put his "coiter" (quarter) in the trinket machine at the dr's office the other day and got HOT PINK bouncy ball. He loves when I put Crystal Light in my water b/c then it's "mommy's pink water". But, the best of all is when he found my shoes in the living room the other day and decided he should wear them. As soon as he went for the shoes, I went for my camera...

What happens when you leave 2 two year olds at the water table?

It becomes a swimming pool. In our defense, we did not "leave" them with the water unsupervised. We were sitting in the screened in porch with the babies while these two splashed around and dumped water on each other before deciding to climb on in!

just lunch time

nothing special here, just a few smiles at lunch. I was taking pictures of Juliet when aidric got a little jealous and insisted I turn the camera towards him. I milked it and made him pose for me...

Lucky us!!

Our wonderful friend and amazing photographer Mollie did a mini session with us on Friday morning. How fun and beautiful are these pictures?? (Is it ok to say that about pictures of yourself?? I can't help it- I love them! We honestly don't look this good in person, but she really is amazing.)

We are so lucky to have these images to take with us to California. Our family, the way it began here in Texas. Both of our babies were born in Austin. Aidric celebrated 2 birthdays here. Jules (just yesterday) cut her first teeth. I will treasure these photos as much as I treasure the engagement pictures of Chris and I in San Francisco. Such a perfect capture of our little family of four as it is right now.

Mollie, thank you again. I can't say it enough. Your friendship has meant the world to me. I hope I can be half as lucky to make the same kind of friends in CA. (Huge bonus points if that new friend also happens to be a talented photographer =)

There are a few more on her blog- go check it out!!

What did we do before blogs??

Three years ago, I didn't even know what a blog was. Now, I am shocked when I find out someone doesn't have one! I started Aidric's blog as a way to keep family and friends updated while he was in the NICU, without having to make a million phone calls. I didn't know people would continue to be interested in reading it once he was home, but I had people question my lack in updating it, so I kept going. Now, I can't imagine not keeping it up. I enjoy capturing pieces of our life, documenting them and sharing them here.

Anyway....I totally diverged from the point of my post. I read so many blogs now, some to keep up with family and friends and others on fun things such as photography, baking and shopping! You can see some of my favorites over to the right. You'll see CoffeeShop Photography Blog is one of them and I'm writing this entry today to link to her comments section to enter her latest contest; a free sharpen/resize/watermark action custom made! Wish me luck...and go check out all of her amazing free actions and tutorials for Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom!

"Swimming" with cousin Grace

I use the word swimming very loosely, since Grace is nicely hanging out in the pool while Aidric is belly flopping over and over again. This seriously went on for a looong time - we were visiting over at Uncle Jerry and Aunt Jean's with various other CA family while we were there house hunting.

(Coming back to add a note- these children do both own several bathing suits, but we hadn't realized they would be swimming and therefore didn't bring suits..they are wearing swim diapers, borrowed from cousin Jonathon)

Peek-a-Boo

Completely unprompted by Chris or me, Aidric initiated a game of Peek-a-Boo with Juliet after dinner the other night. Chris and I were both clearing the table and doing dishes when we noticed and quickly grabbed his phone to get it on video. (Who doesn't love the i-phone??????) They had been playing for a minute or two when I started recording, so this actually isn't the "height" of the excitement and I had to prompt him to start again.

This makes up for it, right??

I know it's been TEN days since my last blog post. We've been soooo busy. For those of you who haven't already heard, we sold our house!! Well, it's in escrow now, and we close on the 28th. We spent last week in CA, looking for a place to live. More details on all of that later, but here is a super sweet shot of Aidric and Juliet to make up for the lack of blogging.

Sweet Juliet

:sung to the tune of "Sweet Caroline":

Aidric and I like to sing this to Jules on a regular basis. I break out with "Sweeeeet Ju-li-et" and he chimes in with "Bu-bu-bum!"

Anyway, sweet Juliet is SEVEN MONTHS OLD!!!!! She is such a fun, happy, little girl.
She has sooo much personality already. She absolutely lets us know what she likes and what she doesn't.

She looooves her brother and all of the attention he pays to her. She waves her arms up and down while screeching and he waves his arms and screeches right back at her.

She's a great eater and huge lover of sweet potatoes and bananas. She also LOVES her puffs- we'll put 5 or 6 on her tray and before we can even glance at her again they are gone. Of course, we can usually find 2 or 3 stuck to an arm or leg somewhere.

Her little legs start moving the minute she is put in the jumperoo, and she's a big fan of standing next to the leap frog table now too.

She still hasn't rolled over, but that's probably because she refuses to spend ANY time on her tummy. She sits up all the time- so different from Aidric at the same age- he preferred to hang out on his belly, playing with his toys.

Other things she does NOT like include waiting for her food when she's hungry, being strapped into her car seat, and having her face wiped clean.

Her 7 month stats:

17 lbs. 2 oz.
26"

Aidric and the ladies

As it turns out, 99% of the time Aidric is playing with kids his age, they are girls. All of my friends have girls. He has two girl cousins. Even his little class at Mother's Day Out had more girls than boys.

Here is with two of his fave friends, Lily and Kyla. This is after a busy morning of water play out on the deck.
