Just a few pics from the visit

I still didn't get the pictures from my mom's camera, so this is all I have! Grandma and Grandpa Sytsma didn't get to see Aidric for Christmas, so they brought a few gifts and he is loving them! (Especially the little duck- they make noises and every time the duck quacks, he gets a huge grin on his face!)

And here he is in the adorable outfit they gave him! (ready to go shopping!)

He is wearing us both out!!

"Us" meaning me and himself! Seriously, he spends ALL day crawling after whatever he knows he shouldn't have (cords and anything electronic are his favorites) and climbing up on everything. He still loves to jump, but doesn't like the confinement of his jumperoo, so one of favorite things now is jumping up and down on the bed while I hold his hands.

So, I'm always more than ready for a nap....he, in turn, has started fighting them. Where is my little boy who lays down, puts his thumb in his mouth and stares at the bumper as his breathing slows down and he puts himself to sleep? I haven't seen that baby since Tuesday or so. Now, he yells the minute I walk towards the crib. And as soon as I put him in the crib, he crawls to the bumper, pulls it down and pulls himself up. Yesterday, I had to get him and hold him while he fell asleep. Today, I decided to let him work it out for at least a little while and this is what we ended up with. I thought about moving him after I took this picture, but you know what? This is how he fell asleep; this is apparently comfortable. So, I let him be....

It is (past) time to baby proof!

Oh, I know it's going to get worse, but in the span of a few days, he went from painstakingly slow army-crawling to real crawling on all fours and getting into EVERYTHING....AND FAST!

Here's a recap of the last hour. (by the way, he's now in his crib playing but is NOT asleep like he should be- two hours past his normal nap time- he's too excited by all of his new tricks!)

So, I am decorating "his" bathroom and wanted to get some cute pictures of him in the bathtub. The lighting in there is horrible at night, so I decided to do a day bath. He loves baths and we were having a great time.

And then I noticed this face, which went along with some grunting and before I could get him out of the tub...

he pooped.

So after I get him cleaned up and in his crib for our second attempt at a nap, I hear him making a lot more noise than normal and go in and find this:

He figured out how to pull himself up to standing in his crib. Yep, we'll be lowering the crib before bedtime tonight.

I can see he is nowhere near going to sleep, so I get him out and he immediately dives under the crib to get a toy. He had to go all the way under and was looking pretty proud of himself when he came back out with it!

The interest in the toy was short-lived, b/c he quickly noticed some cords on the ground so he took off under the crib again to go get them.

But, being the mean mommy I am, I moved them before he could get to them. He yelled for about two seconds before deciding he really was tired.

Seriously, I'M the one who needs a nap. But, he's finally asleep, so instead I'm going to go take a shower and get out of my stinky running clothes!

(side note- my parents are visiting, but just left for two days to go visit some friends in S. Texas- we used my mom's camera for a lot of those pictures, so I need to get her camera & download them- the next entry will be full of pics from that visit!)

A visit from the Nords...

With three under the age of 2 in the house, it's not surprising that we didn't have time to take too many pictures! We did manage to get Claudia and Aidric in their matching track suits. We had a great weekend that included bowling, game night, a lot of good food and watching Brent and Hannah run the Austin 1/2 Marathon.

I haven't mentioned here before that Chris and I have both been running pretty regularly since November. After watching the 1/2 last weekend, I'm ready to go! I signed up for the 10K in San Antonio on March 1st. Wish me luck!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is one of those days when Aidric is lucky to be a boy. If he were a girl, the photo shoot would have definitely entailed rose petals, candy hearts, tutus, etc. and would likely have lasted a lot longer. As it was, I had to get some pics of his Valentine's Day outfit- the "Heartbreaker University" track suit and his "I stole mommy's heart onesie". The problem is, this kid will not sit in one place for very long. The minute I put him on his butt, he almost IMMEDIATELY goes to a crawl position.

"He's crawling??" you ask? Not really, but he goes to all fours, like he plans to crawl. He rocks back and forth a few times and then he plops down to his tummy and takes off in an "scooching" like army-crawl to wherever he wants to go.

The long explanation is written in order to excuse the not-so-fantastic photos for today!

So, here he is, momentarily sitting still...

but not for long!

I lied- he does sit still....

When you put Baby Einstein on the DVD!

Not feeling the new car seat

I've been so excited to get Aidric's "big boy" car seat because I am sooo sick of lugging him around in his carrier. I got it today and put him in it to size it. Needless to say he was not as excited as me.

Music Class

Aidric and I started a music class in January. It is a wonderful class, and he LOVES it!! He is always the first to start "singing" along, and when the instruments come out, he is his own little rock band! He's always loved music....at night during his massage and getting jammies on, "Five Little Ducks" always works wonders to keep him calm and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" is often sung in the car when he gets fussy. For Christmas, we bought him the Fisher Price Sing-Along Stage, and he now pulls up to his knees and dances with it. Needless to say, he loves music! Here are some pictures of him in his class.

(unfortunately, as the parent in the class, we are forced to make idiots out of ourselves, this is the "wiggle, wiggle, wiggle" song)
