Drumroll Please.....

OK, we had his two month appointment this morning. If you remember, my weight guess was 9 lbs. 8 oz.....then, last night as Chris and I were giving him a bath we decided it was probably more like 10 lbs because of the new rolls of fat we discovered on his chubby little arms and legs. Well, all guesses were wrong. He weighs...........

10 lbs 13 oz!!!!!!!

Wow!! That puts him in the 25%ile for weight. He is 22.5 inches long and that's the 50%ile for height. His pediatrician was a little shocked that he had gained so much, but she was also pleased and said he is just catching up. The %tiles she's using are for all 8 week olds and are not adjusted for him being a preemie, so it's still normal that he is on the lower end. Developmentally, he's still reaching all of his milestones too. You can see we caught the end of a smile on camera =)

Bonnie (Nannenga-Combs) is coming to visit tomorrow, so I'm sure there will be another blog update soon with all of the fun things we find to do while she is visiting us here in Austin. We love visitors- does anyone else want to come soon? =)

An educational (& fun) weekend for Aidric

Grandma and Grandpa Porras came to visit us this past weekend. Larry is really into history, so he wanted to go to the Capital and to the LBJ Museum. We all made fun of him for wanting to visit the LBJ Museum, but it turns out we were all thanking him afterwards. It was really interesting! So, Aidric is already learning all about his roots as a Texan and one of its great past leaders.

Aidric has also seen his first movie. He and I went with a friend from my mom's group to see Knocked Up last week. Every Tuesday they have "Baby Day at the Movies" where they turn the lights up a little and turn the sound down. It was so nice to get out of the house and see a movie, and he was a perfect angel during it =)

We have his 2 month appointment this coming Tuesday. I'm excited to see how much he weighs now...my official guess is that it will be 9 lbs 8 oz; we'll see how close I am! What I am not so excited about are the two month immunization shots that he will get at that visit though.

He's been home for a month already!!

It's hard to believe that we have had him home for a little over a month now. In a way, it seems like he has just always been here.

Chris has just gone back to work after having 2 1/2 weeks off. It was so great to have that time for the three of us to hang out. We are already looking forward to his next vacation =)

My friend Gretchen and her 2 y/o son Ryder came to visit us for 4 days. Ryder was so sweet with Aidric, and Aidric didn't mind the extra attention at all. We went shopping, to the park and to the Children's Museum.

We haven't caught a good smile on film yet, but he has been smiling for about a week now. Hopefully we'll get a picture soon! (shouldn't be a problem since we rarely put the camera away =)

First trip to Grandma's!

We just couldn't wait to travel to Southern California to meet Aidric's new cousin and introduce him to the family too. His pediatrician gave him the OK to travel, so we decided to go for it! We left our house at 6 am on Saturday and he was such a great traveler- he slept most of the day- through two flights and a layover and didn't make a peep. I put him in the hotsling as we walked through the airport and it was perfect for keeping him away from all the people (and germs!)

We've had a great four days; we have two of the cutest, best babies in the world here =) (no, we're not biased!) It's so fun to have them together and picture all the future fun times. We had a little (ok, long) photo shoot and wanted to share some of the pictures.

Aidric is 1 month old!

Exciting news to report - Aidric is a big cousin! Grace Isabella Everett was born to Richard and Sarah Everett on Thursday, June 28th! Aidric (and his parents) can't wait to meet her!

Also on the 28th, Aidric had an appointment for a weight check...turns out we won't need to schedule another one of those outside of his regular appointments. The little chunker gained 11 ounces in one week! He continues to be a great eater and has the pounds to show for it- he's up to 6 lbs. 13 oz! He has even outgrown a few of his preemie size outfits.

We also learned that he has reflux. It is not severe and rather than treat it with medication, at this point the doctor just wants us to change his eating and positioning habits. That means feeding him every two hours or so for 10 minutes instead of every 3-4 hours for 20-30 minutes. Hopefully he'll outgrow this quickly!

I hesitate to write about what a great baby he is, because I don't want to jinx it =) We are still two weeks away from his due date, so we can't really expect to know how he will really be until then. We certainly hope that he stays as mellow and happy as he is though! He only cries when he's hungry or we are changing his diaper, and even then it is more of a whimper that lasts about 10 seconds. Keep those fingers crossed we stay this lucky!
